January 1, 2024, marked a momentous occasion for the Brandywine Hundred Fire Co. One hundred years of service and tradition. To kick off the 100th anniversary, Brandywine Hundred Fire Co hosted an unveiling of the 100th anniversary banner on the front of the firehouse. Chief Gordon Edwards III and President Jack Clendaniel welcomed the community, neighboring fire companies, representatives from New Castle County government and Paramedics, members, family, and friends. They each made some brief remarks before unveiling the 100th Anniversary Banner. After the unveiling, Chief Edwards and President Clendaniel hosted a brunch for members and their families. In conjunction with brunch, the company also held the second Employee Recognition event. During the event, FF/EMT Gary Duren was promoted to the rank of Career Lieutenant. Lt Kyle Sweetman, Lt Gary Duren, Firefighter/EMT Steve Wray and Firefighter/EMT Nick Marinucci were elevated to the grade of Firefighter/EMT II and Firefighter/EMT John P Kelly was elevated to the grade of Firefighter/EMT I. EMT Josh Ferguson was awarded a Commendation for Merit. Part-time EMTs Alyssa Williams and Jordan Trala were recognized for completion of the BHFC field training program.
January 1, 2024, was a great day for Brandywine Hundred Fire Co to kick off it’s 100th Anniversary and look forward to many other events throughout the year to celebrate 100 years of community service and tradition.
